How Commissions Work

"Commissioning a portrait must be a relaxing experience"

In order to capture the essence of an individual the process starts in a place where the sitter is the most comfortable; this will of course determine how you wish to be perceived. During these initial consultations; conversation will be informally discussing ideas for the painting.

I will sketch and take photographs in the opening phase of the proposed commission. Thereafter further sittings will be discussed or if it is preferred the commission will be finished from photographs and sketches. The time scale depends on a variety of factors such as the size of the work and its and complexity.

(My experience would suggest that with small children sitting is not always the best option. I can work entirely from photographs and sketches should this be necessary)

Medium

I have just talked about painting here but a commission can be completed in pencil if so desired.

"Every commission will be considered with the individuals needs constantly in mind."
